Weight Management Support Group Returns This Fall

Many people know the challenge of trying to make healthier choices while balancing busy schedules, changing routines, and the ups and downs of everyday life. The Weight Management Support Group at Shepherd of the Hills United Methodist Church offers a welcoming place to connect with others who understand that journey.

The group will resume meeting on Thursday, October 8 at 5:30 PM in the Prayer Room at Shepherd of the Hills United Methodist Church. In-person meetings will continue on the second Thursday of each month.

In addition to the in-person meetings, the group will gather by Zoom on the fourth Thursday of each month at 5:30 PM, beginning October 22. During these online gatherings, participants will read and discuss articles together, creating opportunities for honest conversations about the challenges, successes, questions, and everyday experiences that impact healthy living.

“Our goal is not to tell people what they should do,” said Julie Killebrew, MSN. “It’s to create a supportive community where people can share openly, encourage one another, and learn together. None of us is meant to do this alone.”

The group is also excited to welcome guest speakers in the coming months.

On November 12, Registered Dietitian Yaffi Lvova will lead a conversation about healthy living during the holiday season and finding balance while enjoying the celebrations that bring us together.

On December 10, Jennifer Uhlig from Sun Health will present Practicing Mindfulness, exploring ways mindfulness can support overall health and well-being.

The Weight Management Support Group welcomes anyone seeking encouragement, accountability, and practical support in a welcoming environment. Registration is requested for Zoom meetings and may be completed by contacting the church office at 623-584-2280.

Sometimes the most important step toward a healthier life is knowing that you don’t have to take that step alone.
