This year, the Blue Christmas service will be held on Thursday, Dec 4 at 4:00 PM in the Chapel with a simple Meal to follow in Fellowship Hall.
In the Western Christian tradition, Blue Christmas is sometimes known as the Longest Night worship service, which would be celebrated on December 21 – the longest night of the year. A Blue Christmas service offers people a sacred space to not only remember their loved ones who have passed, but also to name their losses and grief from the previous year, or maybe to recognize their disappointments or loneliness, or fears. It is a refuge, of sorts. A way to acknowledge that they are not alone in the midst of their hurt. That others are hurting, too.
